The practice patient reference group was formed in 2011, with the intention of our patients becoming more of an integral part of our practice.

Members are consulted on the the range and quality of the services we provide and over time, those that may be commissioned directly by the practice. The group is already part of the decision making process that leads to changes in the existing services our practice currently provides.  The group is seen as our critical friend and the voice of our patients.  

The group takes a leading role in the creation of our annual patient survey, based on what they see as priorities.

The current membership of approximately 25 people came about after promotional activity in and around the surgery. We introduced the concept of the group in our practice newsletter, via messages on prescriptions, an advert in the local newsletter, on our web site and by a banner at the front of our surgery with the message ‘Patient views, your surgery needs you’.

The group meets at least twice a year (usually more) and is Chaired by local resident and patient Mr Henry Gowman.

Members are of a mixed age and gender and from a number of parishes within our catchment area, with representation from both those who use our Poringland and Rockland St Mary surgery. The terms of reference created and agreed by the group are on the 'documents' tab.

The minutes from the meetings are available on the 'documents' tab above including those from that held on 13th December 2016 which focussed on the results of the patient consultation on continuing to accept repeat medication requests by telephone.
